An autonomous tradition, one that did not rely on the written word, was represented in the visual repertory of the Greek vase-painters. But the hero mounted his winged horse Pegasus, "and soaring on high shot down the Chimera from the height." Iconography Īlthough the Chimera was, according to Homer, situated in foreign Lycia, her representation in the arts was wholly Greek. Iobates, the king of Lycia, had ordered Bellerophon to kill the Chimera (who had been killing cattle and had "devastated the country"), since he thought that the Chimera would instead kill Bellerophon, "for it was more than a match for many, let alone one". Ī more complete account of the story is given by Apollodorus. Hesiod adds that Bellerophon had help in killing the Chimera, saying "her did Pegasus and noble Bellerophon slay". As told in the Iliad, the hero Bellerophon was ordered by the king of Lycia to slay the Chimera (hoping that the monster would instead kill Bellerophon), but the hero "trusting in the signs of the gods", succeeded in killing the Chimera. Just thought I would spread the word for people looking for a Persona fix, as I'm very impressed by this game so far and it doesn't seem like many in the West know about it, understandably so.Bellerophon riding Pegasus and slaying the Chimera, central medallion of a Roman mosaic from Autun, Musée Rolin, 2nd to 3rd century ADĪccording to Homer, the Chimera, who was reared by Araisodarus (the father of Atymnius and Maris, Trojan warriors killed by Nestor's sons Antilochus and Trasymedes), was "a bane to many men". It's currently only on Steam as far as I know, and there are a few drawbacks such as it being an EA title (although the content is plentiful for the asking price in my opinion) and there is no official ENG translation, but there is a fan one, which while not outstanding still mostly gets the job done I think. I can go into more detail regarding the combat, such as Qi, inner styles and some of the different martial arts, but that would be unnecessary. It's honestly nothing too spectacular so far, but it's good enough I'd say. The combat system is turn-based and grid-based, so it's a bit different compared to Persona. In this game you-similar to the Persona series-are able to do activities throughout the days such as practicing martial arts, hanging out with friends, exercise and more. Not technically a JRPG since it's Chinese, but it essentially plays similar to the Persona series but martial arts.
